illari Volume-Up Embossed Screw™
PDO Screw (Twisted) Thread Series
illari Volume-Up Embossed Screw™ Threads utilize longer thread lengths in comparison to the needle length allowing additional volume per insertion point. Volumizing is further enhanced by the embossing of the PDO suture eliminating migration from the insertion point as well as additional volume due to the twisted nature of the thread compared with smooth (mono) threads. This has the same effect in maximizing the skin volumizing effect of placing multiple PDO threads with a single insertion. Twisted threads closely attached give a wider area of fibrous connective tissues to develop and threads take a longer time for their biodegrading when they are closely attached.
In combination, PDO screw (twisted) thread sutures are used to support tissues and can be placed in a mesh pattern to reinforce barbed (cog) thread placement while enhancing the overall effect of treatment. The main advantage of using screw PDO threads is it reduces the amount of smooth (monofilament-type) needed for differing aesthetic applications.
PDO screw (twisted) thread sutures are to be placed into the subcutaneous fat layer of the skin to promote the production of collagenous connective tissues around the inserted threads.
PDO (Polydioxanone) threads generally last about 6-8 months for its full biodegradation after insertion and upon insertion stimulates collagen production during that period of time. The result from this collagen stimulation may last up to 12-24 months depending upon the patient and indication corrected.
Topical anesthesia is strongly recommended for patient comfort during the treatment. Swelling and edema may last 3-5 days after treatment and transient bruising may occur but varies and is different for each patient, technique, and treatment indication.
